Offered here is an evenly circulated $1 Obsolete issued by the Middletown Bank during the early 1860s. Uncommon red protector panels may be seen at left and right along with signatures attributable to Cashier Melvin Blake Copeland and President John H. Watkinson. This institution ultimately became the Middletown National Bank (Charter# 1216) in 1865. PCGS Currency comments "Rust Stains on Back; Small Edge Tears." Estimate: $200 - $300.
