Mirror- Impressive 19th Century Rococo Revival...

A spectacular, large-scale Rococo Revival wall mirror, hand-carved in solid wood and dating from the late 19th century. The piece features an incredibly expressive, deeply sculpted openwork frame adorned with monumental asymmetrical rocaille scrolls, C-scrolls, and flowing acanthus leaves. The top is crowned with a magnificent fan-shaped stylized shell cresting. The frame preserves its original hand-applied gold leaf (pan de oro) finish, revealing beautiful deep reddish undertones beneath the gilding. The reverse exhibits authentic hand-tooling and historic structural craftsmanship. A commanding statement piece with excellent proportions, perfect for a grand entryway, salon, or overmantel
