35 ANTIQUE PHOTOGRAPHS of a FAMILY of ACROBATS. Rare collection originating from a lovely CONTORTIONIST - 1920s to 1950s - Photographs of a lovely contortionist, including several portraits of this family of acrobats with her father, her sister & her brother: the "PELS-MACKERS" Then, solo, with her artist name Miss MAEKERS in the 1940s. Her sister Miss BENEC having emigrated to Mendoza in Argentina. After an artistic career across Europe, Miss Maekers opens a restaurant in St Paul-de-Vence in Provence. Numerous vintage prints in various formats: 240 x 180 mm- 225 x 170 mm - 170 x 110 mm - 150 x 100 mm - etc. produced in Parisian photo studios such as Studio V. Henry, G. Marant, Harcourt, etc signed on the front in the plate, with a dry stamp or on the verso with a wet stamp. Some of these silver gelatin prints were produced in multiple copies. - GOOD GENERAL CONDITION - Original vintage silver gelatin prints in various formats dating from the 1920s to the 1950s. The majority of the photographs offered are of good quality, with good contrast and sharpness. Some copies show pinholes in the margins.
