Modern Three-Strand Sapphire & Gold Necklace, Probably from India

The deep, velvety blue of this three-strand necklace is reminiscent of the precious jewelry that shaped the courtly jewellery culture of the Indian subcontinent for centuries. The necklace is composed of cut sapphire beads in a slightly flattened spherical shape, arranged in a graduated pattern. The three parallel strands of sapphires are rhythmically connected by slightly arched spacers made of 14-karat gold. These golden elements give structure to the design while also providing warm accents against the gentle blue of the gemstones.
