Monica van Dael (1943) - Meisjesportret

Signed and numbered (1/7) on the base. This elegant bronze sculpture by Monica van Dael depicts a girl’s head with wavy hair that fans out behind the face in a broad, expressive motion. The combination of smooth, soft planes in the visage and the richly textured strands of hair creates an intriguing contrast between calm and dynamism. The subtle curves of the face give the sculpture a serene, almost dreamlike presence, drawing attention to the delicate expression of the girl. The dark patina, enriched with green nuances, allows the surface to respond vividly to light and shadow and enhances the sculptural depth. The compact yet powerful form makes this work suitable as a subtle focal point in both modern and classical interiors. The sleek base elevates the sculpture and lends it a timeless, almost museal presentation. This refined and characterful artwork embodies both poetry and sculptural strength, and forms a special collectible within the limited edition of seven, of which this is number 1.
