Montblanc - Homage to Queen Limited Edition 1975 - Fountain pen

In the rich history of rock music few names have shone as consistently as Queen. With a career spanning over five decades, the band is among the most famous of all time. During this period, Queen became the embodiment of the power of musical creativity and most of their songs stayed at the top of the charts for weeks. They created a sort of musical universe of their own, composed of a combination of hard rock, glam rock, pop, funk and opera, breaking down barriers between genres. Montblanc dedicates its Great Characters Homage to Queen Limited Edition 8 to these icons of rock music, drawing inspiration from the album A Night At The Opera. Black and white: no other color combination describes such a stark contrast and no other could better symbolize the vastness of Queen's musical universe. For a certain period, The Black and the White was even considered as a title for their second studio album and was the motto of Mercury's spectacular birthday party eleven years later. Also the Limited Edition 1975 appears in this contrasting look. The band's fourth studio album, however, surpassed everything that had been done before and is considered the most elaborated album of the 20th century. The four artists who participated have gone down in history: Freddie Mercury, the charismatic frontman with a vocal range of several octaves and a rich vibrato; Brian May, the virtuoso guitarist with the unmistakable sound; John Deacon, the bass guitarist creative genius; and Roger Taylor, the rhythmic heart of the band. In homage to these four exceptional musicians, their stylized portraits are immortalized on the black cap of the writing instrument, inspired by the iconic covers of Queen II and Hot Space. The album A Night at the Opera—and in particular its centerpiece Bohemian Rhapsody—exemplifies Freddie Mercury's dream of creating a record of epic proportions. The extravagant six-minute arrangement of the single blends piano ballads, opera and rock, interspersed with layer upon layer of operatic voices and vocal cascades and eccentric references to characters such as Galileo or Scaramuccia, a figure from Commedia dell'Arte. Mercury himself, known for his flamboyant stage costumes, often wore the garb of another Commedia dell'Arte character, Harlequin. His famous tight suit with a white-and-black diamond pattern underscored his unconventional stage persona and inspired the diamond-shaped design of the cone. The edition also pays homage to Brian May and his extraordinary way of playing the guitar, essential to the album's sound, giving the cone's platinum finish its distinctive look. The cone's ring is stamped with the album name: A Night at the Opera. The year of its release, 1975, inspired the decision to limit the edition to 1975 fountain pens and 1975 ballpoints. The crown worn by Mercury during the final performance of God Save The Queen inspired the silhouette of the upper part of the Limited Edition hood and is at the same time a metaphor of the band's majestic character and musical heritage. The platinum finish clip was designed to recall the microphone stand, a reference to one of the distinguishing features of Freddie Mercury's live performances. Light scratch on the box
