The Montblanc No. 98 is a rare vintage ballpoint pen from the classic era of Montblanc metal writing instruments. Characteristic for this model are the slender, straight form, the fine longitudinal guilloché, and the side clip-lever mechanism for extending and retracting the refill. The high-quality metal construction and the precise mechanism give the No. 98 a particularly elegant and technically distinctive character. This edition consists largely of solid 585 gold / 14-karat gold. The individual parts of the body as well as the clip bear corresponding 585 marks. The Montblanc specialist Jens Rösler (Collectorstar) describes this model as "very rare." Without the refill, the pen weighs about 15 g. In this weight are, besides the gold parts, also an inner plastic sleeve, a small part of the lever mechanism, and the replaced clip lever made of brass. The ballpoint pen is in good used condition and shows age- and wear-related traces as well as scratches. The body has several pressure marks. No personal engraving is present. A new refill is installed and the ballpoint pen is ready to use immediately.
