A0000005428 MONTBLANC WRITERS EDITION VOLTAIRE (1995): We are putting up for auction one of the most elegant and coveted pieces from the prestigious Montblanc Writers Edition collection. Released in 1995, this fountain pen pays homage to the brilliant French philosopher, essayist and writer François-Marie Arouet, universally known as Voltaire. The pen’s design reflects Voltaire’s fascinating personality and the classical elegance of eighteenth-century Europe. The body and cap are made from Montblanc’s iconic black precious resin. However, the absolute centerpiece is the cap's apex, crafted in Vermeil (925 sterling silver heavily gilded with gold), adorned with rich and elaborate engravings inspired by classical motifs. On the side of the cap stands, engraved in gold-tone, the unmistakable signature of the author. The piece culminates with a superb 18-carat solid gold nib (750), handcrafted, bearing the edition year (1995) and delicate motifs from the Enlightenment era. Condition (Expert Review) The fountain pen is in an exceptional collection state: Body and Cap: The resin shows a perfect polish, with no cracks, marks or dents. Metals (Vermeil): The intricate engravings on the apex retain all depth and detail, and the gold finish shines with a deep, flawless luster. Nib: The 18k nib is in pristine condition. Box: The lot is accompanied by its iconic original presentation box in the shape of an antique book, with the interior lined in black satin, adding enormous value for the collector. (We kindly ask bidders to view the gallery in detail, as it is an essential part of the description of this High-Collection piece).
