More than a decorative rug, this new Moroccan creation reads like a large abstract painting woven in wool. Against a warm ivory field, free-flowing black and midnight-blue lines intersect with vivid areas of orange, terracotta and dusty pink. A monumental loop dominates the upper section, while fragmented symbols and asymmetrical forms create movement throughout the composition. The result recalls European modernist art while retaining the spontaneity of Berber visual language. The generous 200 × 300 cm format allows the complete design to unfold without repetition. The contrasting striped borders and hand-finished fringes provide a graphic frame, reinforcing its appearance as a textile artwork. Hand-knotted in Morocco using 100% sheep’s wool, the surface is dense, soft and expressive. Variations in line, pile and colour are part of the artisan’s work and give this one-of-a-kind rug its distinctive character.
