Superb bronze mortar from the 17th century with pestle. France or Spain. Perfect proportions and rare high-relief decoration depicting the Virgin and Child against a background of fleur-de-lis stars. The motif is repeated 4 times and separated by 4 buttresses of the 'rostral' type (flat and toothed). In perfect condition, no crack, no loss, beautiful patina, and the mortar rings clear like a bell. Very beautiful collectible piece. The mortar weighs 2.072 kg, with a height of 8.5 cm, a diameter of 12.2 cm and a base diameter of 8.4 cm. Pestle of 19 cm. Totaling 2.435 kg (5.37 pounds). From a private collection.
