Museum piece – Celestine crystal of AA+ quality – Sicily...

BLUE CELESTINE OF CANICASSÈ: A remarkable historically provenance collection specimen This remarkable celestine from the old Canicassè mine, in Sicily (Italy), stands out for the mineralogical interest of its provenance and for the singular character of this historic deposit. Renowned among Sicilian localities that yielded fine blue celestine specimens, this old mine constitutes a particularly interesting provenance for mineral collectors. The Canicassè mine, located in the province of Caltanissetta, is associated with the history of sulfur mining in Sicily. Today closed, it belongs to the historic mineralogical heritage of the region. Celestines from this locality are sought after for their geological interest and for the link they have with the ancient sulfur deposits of Sicily. Because of its specific provenance, this specimen has particular appeal for a collection devoted to classic Italian minerals, blue celestines, or the mineralizations of the old sulfur districts of Sicily. It will naturally find its place in a specialized collection, a cabinet of curiosities, or a museum-inspired display. The rarity of a specimen depends notably on its crystallographic quality, its aesthetics, its preservation, and the reliability of its provenance. The Canicassè origin constitutes a distinctive element here, to be valued insofar as it can be documented.
