All auctions / Arts & Graphics / Mythological Bacchanal, Attributed to Paulin. French School. 19th Century

Descriptio Oil on bone plate. Dimensions: 27 x 14 cm. A mythological bacchanalian scene inspired by French Classicism, with nude and semi-nude figures dancing and carrying floral offerings in an idealized landscape. The scene is organized in horizontal registers evoking a classical sculptural frieze. The use of color is delicate, with pastel tones and a serene atmosphere. The architectural background with a temple and statue reinforces the Arcadian feel. On the reverse, the title "Les Bacchantes en fête (après Poussin)" appears, confirming the thematic affiliation. Attributed to Paulin. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
