Mythological scene. Italian School. 17th century.

Descriptio Oil on copper. The scene depicts an encounter between two mythological figures in a wooded setting, where the woman, wearing a light-colored tunic and floral crown, advances supplicantly toward a young warrior, dressed in a breastplate, red cloak, and caligae sandals, evoking the classical heroic model. The interaction between the two suggests a narrative moment charged with emotional tension, possibly related to episodes in Greco-Roman mythology linked to love, sacrifice, or war. The landscape, with dense trees and cloudy skies, creates a dramatic and enveloping backdrop that enhances the dialogue between the figures. The use of copper as a support allows for extremely detailed brushwork and exceptional color saturation, with particular attention to the golden reflections of the costumes and the atmospheric lighting effects. This piece reflects the characteristics of the early Italian Baroque school, where theatricality, corporal expressiveness, and technical meticulousness dialogue with a profound symbolic and allegorical charge. Measurements: 33 x 13 cm (work), 47 x 27 cm (frame). Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions.
