This exceptional sphere of petrified wood presents itself with an impressive combination of reddish, caramel-colored and cream-white tones, which run like organic growth rings across the polished surface. The living texture still clearly recalls the ancient wood grain, making the connection between mineral transformation and original plant material wonderfully visible. The warm red and ochre zones seem to glow from the inside, while lighter, almost milky patches create a gentle depth. Enclosed structures and natural lines tell the story of a tree that over millions of years became stone—a process that makes every fossil wood sphere a true unique piece. With its harmonious coloration and the organic, flowing patterning, this sphere appears particularly decorative and radiates a calm, earthy presence. As a rarer variant within fossil woods, it also has an attractive collector’s value and fits elegantly into any mineral collection. Stone: Petrified Wood Sphere Weight: 7866,51g Size: 114mm Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
