All auctions / Ethnographical / Natural group of Ammonites of the Genus Cleoniceras - Aioloceras Sp
Aioloceras Sp. - Early Cretaceous (145–100.5 million years ago) — This lot presents an exceptional natural assemblage of ammonites of the genus Cleoniceras, true fossil jewels from the Early Cretaceous of Madagascar. The arrangement of numerous specimens in a single matrix offers a fascinating visual spectacle, where the harmony of spiral forms merges with the iridescent gleam of the shells. Cleoniceras ammonites are celebrated for their extraordinary preservation and for the vivid mother-of-pearl tones that still adorn the shells today. This specimen is no exception, flaunting a color range that spans from delicate pinks and greens to intense golds and purples, whose hues dance and shift depending on the light angle, creating a changing and almost magical effect. Each ammonite displays the characteristic planispiral swirl, and some polished sections reveal the intricate sutural lines. These intricate internal geometries, known as ammonitic sutures, are not only a fascinating aesthetic element but also an indicator of the evolutionary complexity of these extinct cephalopods, which thrived in prehistoric seas about 110 million years ago. The block is completely natural, preserved as-found in its original matrix, without reassembly interventions. Provenance from one of the most renowned fossil formations in the southwest of Madagascar guarantees the piece’s authenticity and quality. This region is worldwide famous for its ability to preserve ammonites with such spectacular iridescent mother-of-pearl. The specimen offers not only a paleontological study opportunity but also a piece of striking aesthetic impact and notable collectible value. The small irregularities, fractures, or color variations visible are intrinsic characteristics of the natural formation of a fossil and attest to its authenticity and original integrity. This piece, due to its beauty and rarity, is ideal for enriching scientific collections, natural art galleries, or as a fossil sculpture of design, bringing a fragment of geological history and primordial beauty into any setting.”}} соболезнуем to=final code.
