Natural petrified wood slab from Arizona (USA) – 220...

This extraordinary piece of petrified wood impresses with its imposing, flat form and the clearly preserved natural wood structures. The finely discernible annual rings, grain patterns and organic drawings bear witness to the original condition of the wood, which over millions of years has been replaced by minerals and thereby permanently petrified. The warm beige, cream, brown and gold tones are interwoven by striking dark mineral inclusions, lending the specimen a fascinating, high-contrast appearance. Especially impressive is the combination of the natural, almost fossil-like form and the carefully polished surface, through which the delicate structures and color gradations are excellently showcased. Presented on a high-quality, hand-crafted wooden stand, this petrified wood becomes a representative display piece and a special eye-catcher for any demanding mineral, fossil or natural stone collection. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Petrified Wood Weight: 14283,31g Size: 600x453x35mm Treatment: None Origin: USA - Arizona It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
