Ancient Near East, Western Persia, Luristan. A cast-bronze dagger with a tapering blade rising from a ribbed midsection to a flanged hilt and open pommel. The surface carries earthen mineral crust and green cupric patina consistent with burial. The form is associated with the bronze-working tradition of the Zagros highlands, where arms, horse tackle, and votive bronzes were produced. Weapons of this type are documented in quantity from cemeteries in the region. Item # 203812
