Necklace - 14 kt. Yellow gold Garnet - Garnet - P. Walsweer - Sneek

This stunning jewel collar possesses an breathtaking, regal presence that commands attention the moment you enter a room. The impressive, heavy gold weight and the deep red garnets transform the outfit into a statement of pure, tangible class. This necklace is an elegant 20th-century 14-carat (585/1000) yellow gold collar, crafted by the Frisian goldsmith master P. Walsweer, who worked in Sneek from 1963 to 1992. The necklace consists of gracefully shaped, carved links, each set with a beautifully faceted garnet. The warm gold color forms a striking contrast with the deep red gemstones, which vary from ruby red to dark burgundy depending on the light. In the center lies a larger garnet, creating a natural focal point that gives the necklace a chic and balanced appearance. With a length of 42 cm, the necklace sits elegantly around the neck. Thanks to its substantial weight of 27.13 grams, it also feels particularly solid and luxurious. The necklace bears official 585 hallmark and a master’s mark of P. Walsweer, ensuring both the gold content and the provenance. Historical context From the 1960s onward, the Netherlands grew into an important center for high-quality gold jewelry. Regional gold and silver smiths combined traditional craftsmanship with contemporary designs, with quality taking precedence. P. Walsweer, active in Sneek between 1963 and 1992, belongs to this generation of Dutch goldsmiths. His jewelry is characterized by a solid finish, high-quality materials, and a timeless design that can still be worn effortlessly today. Garnets have been among the most beloved gemstones for centuries. They symbolize love, strength, protection, and fidelity. Especially in combination with yellow gold, they create a warm, classic look that may never go out of fashion. Through the combination of Dutch craftsmanship, 14-carat gold, and natural garnets, this necklace forms both a beautiful wearable piece and a valuable addition to a jewelry collection.
