NÉMETH (Lajos). Csontváry. - Lot 227

NÉMETH (Lajos). Csontváry. Budapest, Corvina Publishing, n.d. Large quarto, publisher’s hardcover with a color-illustrated dust jacket. A monograph by Lajos Németh devoted to the Hungarian painter Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka (1853–1919). Richly illustrated in color and black-and-white, featuring reproductions of his landscapes, Mediterranean and Oriental views, as well as his major Symbolist compositions. A definitive work on this unique figure in Hungarian modern art, whose work blends Symbolism, mystical vision, and highly personal explorations of light and color. A good copy; the dust jacket shows some scuffing, small tears, and minor imperfections, particularly on the upper part of the front cover.
