Central Asia, Nepal. A dhyangro, the double-headed frame drum played by jhakri (shamans) of Nepal during traditional ceremonies, with hide drumheads lashed over a wooden frame. The carved wooden handle takes the form of a kīla, a ritual dagger reflecting Buddhist influence, with a deity head above the triangular blade. Drums of this type are held aloft by the handle and struck with a curved cane beater. This example functions and emits a nice tone. Item # 203788
