icholson (Peter) The Carpenter and Joiner's Assistant, first edition, 79 engraved plates, some folding, the Schloss Tetschner copy with fine stamp in red to verso of title, with 4pp. folio letterpress publishers' catalogue bound in at end (folded), light spotting to plates, occasional offsetting or browning to text, contemporary sheep, spine ruled in gilt, a little rubbed and scuffed, cracks to joints, small repair to lower cover, preserved in modern card folder and cloth drop-back box, [Berlin Kat. 2306], I. & J.Taylor, 1797 § Pain (William) The Practical House Carpenter; or, Youth's Instructor..., ninth edition, 148 engraved plates numbered 1-146 (including additional plates 3 & 65), an excellent clean copy in contemporary tree sheep, spine ruled in gilt, a little rubbed, corners bumped, joints neatly repaired, [Harris 660; cf. Berlin Kat. 2301, fourth edition of 1792], 1823, 4to (2) *** Important practical guides with detailed plates and instructions for the hanging of doors, construction of windows, stairs, roofs etc. Both went through several editions.
