Her work is characterized by an innovative and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered structures and diverse materials she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength and transformation. Lubbers was named Artist of the Year 2024 at the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro, and placed second at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. In addition, she was listed among the 100 best female artists in the world and recognized as Master in Art. Internationally her work has been shown and planned for exhibitions in New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, alongside exhibitions in Dutch galleries. A particular highlight is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. In addition, Nicole co-presents the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision with artist Michael Lam. Here Lam’s flowing Single Stroke Painting and Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures meet each other. The color purple forms the connecting line between two different artistic languages and symbolizes creativity, spirituality and transformation. Nicole Lubbers’s work is more than decoration.
