This 12-inch vinyl LP features the world premiere recording of the musical Nightingale, with music and lyrics by Charles Strouse. The production stars Sarah Brightman in the title role, alongside Gordon Sandison, Susannah Fellows, and Andrew Shore. The record was issued by That's Entertainment Records (TER) with catalog number TER 1031. The recording was conducted at EMI Abbey Road Studios, London, on January 10, 14, and 18, 1983. The front cover features stylized artwork of the Emperor and the Nightingale, accompanied by vertical English text and Chinese characters. A gold foil distribution sticker for Varese Sarabande Records is affixed to the front, designating the item as an Imported Pressing. The back cover contains a detailed track listing for Side 1 and Side 2, a full cast list, and production credits. The vinyl label for Side 1 is printed with a green and white graphic for That's Entertainment Records and includes the text Made in England.
