Nightstand - Wood - Sicilian Rustic

ightstand belonging to my great-grandmother, part of the furnishings of the matrimonial bedroom, dating from the early 1900s. The style is typical of 'arte povera' or commonly defined as Sicilian rustic. The piece has never been restored, yet it is in excellent condition. At the top it features a marble slab of a beautiful color, quarried in the mines of the Province of Palermo. Drawer and door with a base support structure that was used in the old days to rest the night vase. The base in question is a bit chipped due to use. Otherwise the nightstand is in good shape and it is the only surviving piece from a bedroom complete from the early 1900s.
