A pair of woodblock prints by Kubota Beisen Nisshin Sentō Gahō (日清戦闘画報) – This is the most prominent work of this collaboration from that particular year. It is a famous illustrated chronicle (in 11 parts) about the First Sino-Japanese War. Artist/Author: Kubota Beisen (久保田米僊), together with his sons. Publisher: Ōkura Yasugorō (大倉大角/大倉書店) in Tokyo. Year: From October Meiji 27 (1894) High-quality prints, sharply rendered. Kubota Beisen (1852–1906): A highly regarded Japanese Nihonga painter, art teacher, and respected war journalist/illustrator. He combined traditional Japanese styles with Western perspective techniques. Ōkura Yasugorō: A prominent Meiji-period publisher, affiliated with the renowned publishing house Ōkura Shoten in Tokyo.
