Niurka Moreno Leyva - "Pink eclipse" NO Reserve

Unique 100% handmade piece. It is not a print. "Pink eclipse" This work is a pictorial exploration that fuses figurative art with a vibrant and saturated post-Pop and Neo-Fauvist aesthetic. Using acrylic on canvas, the piece centers on deliberately non-naturalistic use of color. The background, dominated by an electric fuchsia pink, establishes an atmosphere of unreality and emotional tension. On this basis, the central subject, a tabby cat, is depicted in a contrasting palette of blues, greens and blacks, creating an intense visual vibration and a nearly sculptural relief effect. The surrounding botanical elements, painted in a deep magenta, are stylized and interpretive rather than botanically precise, acting as organic frames that enclose and focus the gaze of the central figure. The acrylic is applied in layers of diluted pigment, emulating the freshness of watercolor and allowing a flat color application with subtle textures, achieving a clean yet expressive finish typical of contemporary graphic art. The cat, traditionally a symbol of autonomy and mystery, here sits in an environment defined by a color that does not exist in the wild world. This use of color acts as a perceptual barrier, suggesting that the viewer is not observing a scene of nature, but a mental projection or a landscape of dreams. With eyes of an intense pink matching the background, it is not simply resting; it is watching. Its eyes act as portals to the surrounding environment itself, suggesting a symbiosis and possession of space by the creature. The magenta branch and leaves are not mere decoration; they represent a created or altered environment by perception. The languid posture but alert gaze embody control and instinct: the cat seems contained, but its gaze suggests latent force. The work invites reflection on how our perception shapes the “wild” world and how the wild, in turn, keeps vigil over us, even in the most artificial environments.
