NO RESERVE PRICE - Large carved swordfish on custom stand...

This swordfish bill has been hand carved with a traditional Maori pattern. Hand-carved swordfish tusk with traditional Maori Wheku and Tiki carving. Wheku, meaning 'carved face', depicts the face of an ancestor. The Wheku is generally found at the apex of the gable on a Wharenui, the Maori meeting house, and symbolizes an important ancestor after whom the house was named. The eyes of this Maori have been decorated with abalone shells, adding striking detail and giving homage to Maori tradition.
