Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Room size: Antique Spanish Bird-Design Carpet Size: 12 ft 10 in x 11 ft (3.91 m x 3.35 m) Provenance: Property of New York dealer A large antique Spanish carpet animated by an engaging arrangement of birds and botanical ornament. Its near-square proportions give the composition a strong central presence, making the carpet particularly effective in a reception room, library or central seating area. Bird imagery has appeared in Spanish textile art for centuries, reflecting the country’s rich exchange of Islamic, Christian and Mediterranean decorative traditions. Historic Spanish carpets incorporating birds, animals and flowering trees are preserved in major museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This institutional context demonstrates the longstanding importance of such imagery without implying that the present carpet is of the same early date. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #444 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even, with no visible signs of wear. All sides are complete and securely finished.
