The woman gazes to one side, while her back and shoulders occupy much of the foreground. The image is notable for the contrast between the skin tones of both figures, the proximity of their bodies, and the tight framing, which accentuates the feeling of intimacy and complicity. The side lighting models the volumes and highlights the skin textures against a dark background, creating a composition of great plastic and expressive power.
