On both the box and the blades is the prestigious maker’s inscription 濃州正宗作 (Nōshū Masamune Saku), which stands for "Made by Nōshū Masamune" as a tribute to the legendary swordsmith. The set is internationally known under the name Sword Smith, which is prominently displayed on the logo inside the lid. The knives are equipped with traditional, light wooden handles (和ハンドル) with a contrasting black ferrule. The set consists of three classic Japanese models: 1. Yanagiba / Sashimi Knife (柳刃包丁): The long, slender knife. This blade is specifically designed for ultra-thin, single-motion slicing of raw fish (sushi/sashimi) and meat. 2.
