New York, 1880. 1000 Shares I/U Stock Certificate, Black with black border and orange/beige underprint, Bald Eagle at center under title with mining vignettes at left and right, S/N 168, VF to VF+ condition, the company operated the Little Hope Claim on the eastern slope of Battle Mountain in the Eagle River Mining District. They had a 265 ft. tunnel "which is looking well." The article describes the district as being located near Red Cliff. Later, the mining town camp of Gilman was formed to better exploit Battle Mountain's resources. The district was first in Summit County but later became part of Eagle County when it formed. Henderson says that Eagle County encompasses both the Holy Cross and Eagle River mining districts.
