Obsidian is a volcanic glass whose formation is due to the very rapid cooling of lava, always rich in silicate ions. Obsidian is a natural glass, entirely similar to that produced by humans. A highly sought-after raw material in antiquity for the manufacture of sharp tools (predominantly knives) and one of the commodities that animated trade in the Mediterranean and sustained the economic life of the extraction sites. Today it is still worked into small decorative objects, jewelry, blades for scalpels. Splendid sphere of obsidian, coming from Mexico. Weight: 880g Diameter: 9.20cm
