A standard 1897 Officer’s pattern example with an 81.5 cm etched blade numbered ‘02737’ to the reverse edge, with a King’s crown surmounting ‘G.R.V.’ and foliage to one side, the other with a similar design and a large scrolled panel inscribed ‘Capt. Edgar Owen Hill, M.C. (With Bar.)’, with a standard pattern basket hilt with a wired fish skin grip, with its brown leather covered service scabbard, the hilt lacking all of its plating, the blade with good plating, clear scroll etching, and some areas of rust, the scabbard scuffed in places, generally good condition £140-£180.
