Oil lamp or miniature ceramic inkwell painted blue under glaze - Kashan-Island or Sultanabad style (14th-15th century or similar period) Rare and original architectural ceramic piece, presenting the characteristics of productions from the medieval Iranian world. This small closed form with a pierced flat-top bridge and a pronounced spout features cobalt blue underglaze painting on a transparent glaze, finely arranged on the upper plate with stylized floral motifs and a beaded border frieze. The body shows an age glaze crazing (craquelure), scattered blue spots, as well as traces of use and old soot embedded around the spout, testifying to its authenticity and past use. The unglazed base reveals the raw digging paste. A charming, history-filled collectible piece, ideal for enthusiasts of ancient Islamic art.
