LARGE FORMAT ✦ FREE SHIPPING WITHIN THE EU ✦ RATED EXCELLENT A splendid oil presumably late 19th century painting made by Olga Ciardi, Florence, Italy, depicting Mary Magdalene after the celebrated composition by Carlo Dolci (1616–1686). Mary is portrayed with an upward, contemplative gaze, holding an ornate vessel of precious ointment, her delicate features and flowing auburn hair beautifully illuminated against a dark, atmospheric background. The crimson mantle, intricately rendered garments, and subtle tonal transitions lend the composition considerable warmth and devotional intensity. The painting is presented in an impressive, elaborately carved and gilded Florentine frame. Carlo Dolci was a distinguished Italian Baroque painter born in Florence, renowned for his exquisitely finished religious paintings, refined colouring, and tender, deeply expressive figures. A pupil of Jacopo Vignali, he devoted much of his career to sacred subjects, developing a meticulous technique that became characteristic of the Florentine school.
