OLOT / El Renacimiento Olot - Sculpture

Exceptional sculpture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus - Polychromed wood paste, glass eyes and sealed "El Renacimiento, Olot" - First half of the 20th century (c. 1920 - 1940) Description of the lot: Magnificent and devotional sculpture representing the seated Sacred Heart of Jesus, enthroned on a richly ornamented chair. The piece is a classical masterpiece of the renowned Olot school of religious sculpture, specifically arising from the workshops of the prestigious house "El Renacimiento", as clearly evidenced by the origin seal engraved on its base. Main characteristics: Iconography: Christ depicted seated, with a tunic of fine brocade motifs in light tones and gold, showing the flaming Sacred Heart on the chest with a serene and solemn expression. Technique and Materials: Made in the traditional wood paste (a material typical of Olot workshops that allowed high-relief work with light structural weight). Notable details: Incorporates glass/crystal eyes, lending realism and depth to the gaze that are far superior and typical of higher-category works of the period. Seal: Preserves the original factory punch/bas-relief die with the workshop inscription "El Renacimiento Olot". Period: First half of the 20th century (circa 1920-1940). Dimensions: 35.5 cm height x 18 cm width x 18 cm depth. Condition: Very good for its age. Preserves its original polychromy with the patina of time. Shows natural wear and the typical scuffs in areas of greater relief and handling, with slight color loss and craquelure on the face, especially on the forehead, which certifies its authenticity and devotional use over decades. An essential collectible for lovers of Catalan sacred art and the historic Olot workshops. Packing and shipping notes: It will be properly packaged with professional protective materials and specialized cushioning.
