Brand: Omega Model: Seamaster Automatic Reference Number: 166.037 SP Serial Number: 29402240 Movement: Automatic, Caliber 565, 24 Jewels Dial: Silver sunburst Case Size: 35 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1970 Condition: Good vintage condition. Applied baton indices feature black inserts that coordinate perfectly with the stick hands, while the dial typography remains crisp. Minor spotting is visible only under macro magnification. The original stick hands contain luminous material and display visible oxidation and aging on their metal surfaces, particularly noticeable on the minute hand. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case exhibits honest vintage wear, with light surface scratches present throughout. The lugs retain decent geometry while showing signs of normal wear expected from a watch of this era. A smooth steel bezel frames the dial, displaying light surface scratches consistent with the rest of the case. The caseback features the traditional hippocampus engraving, which is heavily worn and faint. The watch is fitted with a knurled crown that is clearly signed with the Omega logo. Above the dial sits a clear, domed acrylic crystal with minimal surface wear, notably retaining the original Omega logo etched in its center. Movement Powering this Seamaster is the Omega Caliber 565, a 24-jewel automatic movement. The copper-colored plating is bright and intact, with the rotor and bridges appearing clean and showing no obvious signs of corrosion or damage. The movement features crisp engravings, including the Omega logo, caliber number, and serial number. Recording +5+8s/day. Exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, a classic stainless steel beads of rice design. The bracelet features 570-stamped endlinks and a signed Omega clasp. It displays normal wear and stretch expected for its age, comfortably accommodating a maximum wrist size of 17.5 cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The dial is excellently preserved with only minor spotting under magnification, while the original hands show visible oxidation. The case and bezel display light surface scratches throughout, and the caseback hippocampus engraving is heavily worn. The original signed beads of rice bracelet shows normal stretch. Supported by the recorded timegrapher result, the movement is performing very strongly. Dimensions The case measures 35 mm in diameter (excluding the crown). Remarks This 1970 Omega Seamaster stands out for its well-preserved silver sunburst dial and the retention of its original beads of rice bracelet. The presence of the original etched Omega acrylic crystal and the exceptionally clean Caliber 565 movement make this an appealing acquisition for collectors. History The Seamaster 166.037 was a popular and widely produced model during the late 1960s and early 1970s. This specific reference is powered by the Omega Caliber 565, a 24-jewel automatic movement equipped with a quickset date function. The Caliber 565 shares its underlying architecture with the chronometer-grade Caliber 564, differing primarily by the absence of chronometer certification. Finding these references with clean dials and their original bracelets is always desirable. Payment and Shipping Payment must be completed within 1–3 days after purchase.
