Offered in this auction by Second Vintage This sought-after Pre-Bond Seamaster presents a highly attractive matte black dial with creamy yellow patina, paired with the desirable first-generation Mercedes and sword hand configuration. Complete with its original integrated stainless steel bracelet, it offers a distinct aesthetic for collectors of transitioning sports models. Brand: Omega Model: Seamaster Professional Reference Number: 396.1052 Movement: Quartz Dial: Matte black with creamy yellow patina Case Size: 37 mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1990s Condition: Good vintage condition. Dial and Hands The matte black dial remains in well-preserved condition, featuring crisp and fully intact printed text. The lume plots have aged to an attractive, even creamy yellow patina, offering excellent vintage preservation. This example features the first-generation Mercedes hour hand and sword minute hand configuration. The lume on the hands shows visible darkening and degradation, particularly on the minute hand, which is typical for this era. The metal surfaces of the hands also display minor oxidation. Case and Crystal The stainless steel case features brushed and polished finishes, presenting honest wear consistent with age and use. Moderate scratches and scuffs are visible on the flanks and lugs, alongside some minor dings on the case edges. The caseback shows light surface wear while retaining crisp engravings. The black rotating bezel insert exhibits moderate scratches and scuffs, notably around the 10 and 50 markers, with an intact but age-darkened lume pip at the twelve o'clock position. The outer steel bezel ring shows light wear, and the signed Omega crown displays moderate surface scratches. The flat sapphire crystal is clear with no significant scratches or chips visible. Movement The watch is powered by the Omega caliber 1438 quartz movement, featuring six jewels and marked unadjusted with Swiss V8 engravings. The movement appears clean with no visible corrosion or battery leakage, and a battery is currently present. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet. This integrated stainless steel bracelet shows moderate scratches and scuffs throughout the links, providing a worn but structurally sound fit. The clasp is heavily scratched, though the Omega logo remains clear. The bracelet accommodates a maximum wrist size of 17.5cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The well-preserved dial features an excellent creamy patina, contrasting with the typical age-related degradation and darkening visible on the hands. The stainless steel case and original integrated bracelet display honest wear, including moderate scratches, scuffs, and minor dings on the case edges. The bezel insert shows notable wear around the 10 and 50 markers, while the sapphire crystal remains clear. The quartz movement is clean and visually well-preserved. Dimensions The case measures 37 mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This sought-after Pre-Bond Seamaster offers a highly attractive dial patina paired with the desirable first-generation hand configuration. The presence of its original integrated bracelet completes a compelling package for collectors of 1990s sports models. History The Omega Seamaster Professional is affectionately known by collectors as the Pre-Bond Seamaster, a model line introduced in the late 1980s. This transitional design has established a dedicated collector following for its distinctive integrated aesthetic and robust character. The reference 396.1052 is powered by the reliable Omega caliber 1438 quartz movement, which is based on the ETA caliber 255.461. This era of Seamaster production represents a fascinating period of evolution for the brand, bridging the gap between earlier vintage designs and the modern Seamaster Professional line.
