Brand: Omega Model: Seamaster Reference Number: 396.1052 Serial Number: 53027018 Movement: Quartz Omega Caliber 1438 Dial: Matte black with creamy yellow patina indices Case Size: 37mm (excluding the crown) Case Material: Stainless steel Production Year: 1990s Condition: Good vintage condition. Dial and Hands The well-preserved matte black dial provides a stark, contrasting backdrop for the crisp white printed typography. Its painted luminous indices have aged beautifully to an even, creamy yellow patina, giving the watch an attractive vintage character. The handset features a Mercedes-style hour hand and a pencil minute hand, with luminous material that perfectly matches the creamy tone of the dial indices. Under magnification, minor oxidation is visible on the metal hand frames. Case and Crystal The brushed stainless steel case displays the distinct, angular geometry that defines this era of Seamaster. The case exhibits honest wear consistent with age and use, showing moderate scratches and scuffs on the flanks and lugs. The black bezel insert features silver numerals and a luminous pip at 12 o'clock, which has aged to match the dial patina. Moderate surface scratches and scuffs are present across the bezel insert. The caseback bears a crisp engraving of the Omega Seamaster hippocampus. A signed crown with a knurled grip and an embossed Omega logo shows minor surface wear. The flat sapphire crystal remains clear, with no significant scratches, chips, or crazing visible. Movement The watch is powered by the Omega caliber 1438, a reliable six-jewel quartz movement based on the ETA 255.261 architecture. The quartz module is clean, displaying its Omega engravings clearly. There are no visible signs of battery leakage, moisture damage, or corrosion within the movement compartment. Strap The watch is fitted with its original signed bracelet, featuring the model's signature integrated stainless steel link design. It secures via a signed Omega clasp bearing the brand's logo. The bracelet shows moderate surface scratches and wear throughout, consistent with the rest of the watch, and accommodates a maximum wrist size of 19cm. Condition Good vintage condition. The watch presents an honest appearance with moderate scratches and scuffs across the brushed case flanks, lugs, bezel insert, and integrated bracelet. The dial and crystal remain in excellent visual condition, highlighted by the superb, matching creamy patina across the indices and hands. Dimensions The case measures 37mm (excluding the crown). Remarks This Seamaster is a prime example of the collector-favorite Pre-Bond design, elevated by the exceptional, warm patina on its dial and hands. Retaining its original integrated bracelet and signed clasp, it offers a compelling opportunity to acquire a distinctive 1990s sports watch with genuine vintage character. History The "Pre-Bond" Seamaster 200m models hold a distinct place in Omega's modern history, bridging the gap between the brand's earlier professional divers and the later Seamaster 300m lines of the mid-1990s. Characterized by their integrated bracelets and angular case profiles, these models have gained significant collector interest for their unique aesthetic. Reference 396.1052 utilizes the Omega caliber 1438, a robust quartz movement built upon the proven ETA 255.261 base, providing reliable performance in a highly wearable format.
