Onbekend Wenen Vienna Austria - Onbekend - Sculpture

A special antique miniature group featuring anthropomorphic cats at a painter's easel. One cat is depicted as an artist at the easel, while a second cat is part of the humorous scene. The group is presumably of Austrian/Viennese origin and executed in the tradition of the well-known Vienna Bronzes from the early 20th century. The figures and the easel are cold-painted and show signs of age and wear, including localized paint loss and wear to the paintwork. No visible manufacturer's mark has been found, making the maker difficult to identify with certainty. The portrayal is reminiscent in character of the anthropomorphic cats from Beatrix Potter's world, but an official connection with Beatrix Potter or Tom Kitten has not been established. The dimensions are approximately 8.5x5x5 cm. The total weight is about 70 grams. Carefully view the photos; they are part of the description.
