Oneida Community, N.Y. S. Newhouse No. 50 Small Bear Trap

Oneida, N.Y., USA. 1911. This trap is a smaller version of the No. 5 bear trap and was designed for smaller bears, wolves and cougars. The wide jaws have a set of three evenly spaced teeth on each of the non-offset jaws with a double spring composition. Stamped, "S. NEWHOUSE / ONEIDA COMMUNITY N.Y. and PAT. / SEPT. 26. 1911. / on the circumference of the treadle pan and "NO. 50" in the centre of the treadle pan.
