Opulent Antique Revival Brooch with Emerald and Diamonds in Gold, c. 1980s

Antique forms of jewelry were revived several times over the 20th century. In the late 20th century, antiques were more in demand than ever before and belonged in the stylish middle-class home as a sign of good taste. Not only were old pieces of jewelry worn again, but new creations in the spirit of the 19th century also emerged. This piece of jewelry, which came to us from an estate in the Rhineland, is a typical representative of this fashion. The brooch is based on models from the turn of the century before last, but the materials and workmanship reveal that it is a piece of jewelry from the late 20th century. The horizontal design consists of graceful leaf ornaments and is made of high-carat yellow gold. In its center, a beautiful emerald shines in intense green in the center of a densely filled rose. The rest of the brooch is set with a total of 28 sparkling octagonal diamonds. The piece of jewelry was probably created in the USA and is a colourful feast for the eyes with a nostalgic look.
