Orfeo Tamburi (1919-1994) - Fanciulla danzante

The size of the work, excluding the frame, is 20x20, with a female figure identifiable as a ballerina, rendered with swift and dynamic strokes. The style is consistent with Tamburi’s ink drawings and watercolor or tempera on paper, characterized by a decisive line and the use of softly shaded color fields to give volume and movement. The signature "Tamburi" followed by the year "1949" is clearly visible in the lower part of the drawing. The artwork in the image is a drawing attributed to the Italian artist Orfeo Tamburi (1910–1994). The piece, dated 1949 as indicated by the autograph inscription beside the signature at the bottom center, depicts a dancer in motion, a recurring theme in the artist’s production. Having come into contact with figures such as Scipione and Mafai, although famous for his urban landscapes (especially of Paris and Rome), he devoted great attention to the human figure and the world of entertainment, also collaborating with several Roman theaters in the 1940s. (1949): It was precisely between the late 1940s and the early 1950s that Tamburi consolidated his ties with Paris, a city that became fundamental to his stylistic evolution.
