Original China Traditional Pure Silk on Silk Old - Rug...

Chinese Silk Rugs: Masterpieces of Eastern Knitting Art Chinese silk rugs are among the most exclusive and finest textiles in the world. They combine a millennia-old tradition with the highest level of craftsmanship and are renowned worldwide for their exceptional quality and elegance. The Material: Pure Luxury These rugs are made from pure natural silk. The use of silk for both the pile and often for the warp (the framework) enables an extremely high knot density. The result is an incredibly fine, almost pictorial rendering of the patterns and a surface that feels indescribably soft and supple. Characteristic Gloss & Appearance A hallmark of Chinese silk rugs is their luster. The silk reflects light in a unique way, causing the colors to shift depending on the viewing angle and lighting—at times they appear delicate and pastel, at other times deep and vivid. Many of these rugs also feature a so-called relief cut (contour cut), where the patterns are sculpted to give them a three-dimensional depth.
