Origone - 1 Original colour drawing - Cristoforo Colombo - 1990

Splendid and hilarious original color illustration/cartoon signed by the renowned Origone brothers (Agostino and Franco Origone), historic names in Italian comics and satire, known for masterpieces such as Nilus and Petrus. The work presents a satirical reinterpretation of Christopher Columbus's landing on the shores of the Americas: a timid explorer on his caravel (with the typical red cross on the sail and the flag) is overwhelmed by the wind created by the threatening breath of the local Indigenous people sheltered beneath the palms. Created with dynamic ink drawing and colored with pencil/crayon on vintage cardboard. A piece of original art perfect for collectors of humorous comics and authorial satirical illustration.
