Oris Big Crown – Automatic – Day-Date – Black Dial – Sapphire Crystal – 50M – 2000-2009 A distinctive Oris Big Crown automatic wristwatch, combining the practical, highly legible character associated with the Big Crown family with a Swiss automatic mechanical movement and an attractive black dial. The watch features a highly readable dial with large Arabic numerals, luminous hour markers and luminous hands. Its unusual calendar configuration gives the watch additional character: the day display is positioned at 12 o’clock, while the date window is positioned at 6 o’clock, creating a balanced and symmetrical layout. A signature oversized crown reinforces the functional identity of the model, while the transparent case back reveals the Swiss automatic movement and the characteristic Oris red rotor. Technical Details Brand: Oris Collection: Big Crown Reference: 7500 Case number: 23-00419 Type: Automatic wristwatch Case material: Stainless steel Case diameter: Approx. 40 mm Glass: Sapphire crystal Dial: Black Movement: Swiss automatic Oris mechanical movement Jewels: 25 jewels Case back: Exhibition case back Functions: Hours, minutes, central seconds, day, date Day display: 12 o’clock Date display: 6 o’clock Water resistance: 50 metres as marked on the case back – not tested Strap: Generic black leather strap Wrist size: Approx. 21–22 cm Box: Generic box included Condition: Grade B Condition Report This Oris Big Crown is in Grade B condition, showing signs of normal use consistent with its age. The stainless steel case and bezel present scratches, hairlines and surface marks from previous wear, particularly visible on the brushed and polished surfaces. These signs are cosmetic and contribute to the authentic pre-owned character of the watch. The black dial is well preserved overall, with the Arabic numerals, minute track, calendar indications and Oris signature remaining clear and highly legible. The sapphire crystal is present and appears well preserved overall, with possible light signs of normal use. The exhibition case back provides a clear view of the automatic movement. The watch is marked Water Resistant 50M, but water resistance has not been tested and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item. Story & Heritage Founded in Hölstein, Switzerland, in 1904, Oris has built its reputation around mechanical watchmaking and practical Swiss timepieces. The company has remained particularly associated with mechanical watches at a time when many manufacturers increasingly moved toward quartz production. The Big Crown name has deep roots in Oris history. The concept originated with watches designed for pilots, where an oversized crown made it easier to adjust the watch while wearing gloves. Over the decades, this functional feature became one of the most recognisable elements of the brand’s design language. This example translates that heritage into a versatile automatic watch with excellent dial legibility, an oversized crown and a practical day-date complication. The exhibition case back adds mechanical interest, revealing the automatic movement and Oris' characteristic red rotor. With its balanced black dial, unusual symmetrical day-date layout and unmistakable Big Crown styling, this is a characterful Swiss mechanical watch for collectors and enthusiasts of Oris.
