Obv: سلطان / سليم / شاه / بن / بايزيد خان. “Sultan Selim Shah, son of Bayezid Khan.” Rev: عز نصره / ضرب [mint] / سنة [date], with the ب of ضرب rendered as a prominent heart-shaped knot. “May his victory be glorious / struck at [mint] / in the year [date].” Reference: Album, Checklist of Islamic Coins, 1315. — Mehmed II “the Conqueror”, 2nd Reign (1451–1481 AD). Akçe (Silver, 12 mm, 1.04 g). Obv: محمد بن within a central circular compartment; مراد / خان / عز نصره / [date] arranged in the surrounding fields. “Mehmed, son of Murad Khan; may his victory be glorious; [date].” Rev: خلد ملكه / ضرب [mint], the inscription and mint separated by an arabesque within a circular border. “May his sovereignty endure / struck at [mint].” Reference: Album, Checklist of Islamic Coins, 1308.1. — Bayezid II (1481–1512 AD). Akçe (Silver, 12 mm, 1.12 g). Mehmed II ended Byzantine rule by capturing its capital and forged a centralized imperial state. Bayezid II consolidated these gains, strengthened naval power and faced a bitter succession struggle. Selim I prevailed in that contest, then expanded rapidly through victories over eastern rivals and a southern sultanate, bringing major trade routes and the chief pilgrimage cities under his authority.
