A refined pair of French Empire candelabras in patinated and gilded bronze, manufactured circa 1805–1815. The candelabras are executed in the form of classical urns, with elegant curved handles and finely worked mascarons. The contrast between the deep green patinated bronze and the gilded bronze ornaments gives the pair a particularly elegant appearance, characteristic of the Empire period. A special detail is the convertible design. The candelabras can be used as traditional candlesticks, but thanks to the interchangeable flame-shaped finials they can also be presented as decorative Empire urns. The symmetrical composition, classical urn form, mascarons and refined ornamentation are characteristic of the French neoclassical vocabulary of form from the Napoleonic era. Origin: France Period: Empire, circa 1805–1815 Material: patinated and gilded bronze Dimensions: H 32 × W 8.5 cm, per piece Quantity: 2 Condition: good condition, with signs of wear and age appropriate to the age.
