Pair of obelisks in Levanto green marble – Italian School – 20th century

Descriptio An elegant pair of classically inspired obelisks, carved from Levanto green marble, one of Italy’s most distinctive ornamental stones, characterized by its deep green hue, traversed by distinctive veins and branches in white, gray, and occasionally yellowish tones. The stone’s natural richness endows each piece with a unique pattern, making its surface an ornamental element in itself. The obelisk motif, originating in ancient Egyptian architecture and later adopted by Rome, acquired profound symbolic value associated with permanence, authority, and monumentality. Its revival during the Renaissance and Baroque periods made it a common feature in gardens, palaces, and aristocratic interiors, where it was often arranged in pairs to emphasize architectural axes and create dramatic compositions. Dimensions: 43 × 10 × 10 cm each.
