Pair of Tibetan incense burners with dragon finials – Tibet – 19th century

Descriptio Pair of large Tibetan ceremonial incense burners made of fruitwood covered in bone and profusely polychromed. They feature a globular body with a domed lid, large side handles in the shape of dragon heads with movable rings, and a figurative finial on a pedestal, also adorned with hanging rings. The decoration combines motifs from the Sino-Tibetan tradition: dragons among clouds on the lid, phoenixes and floral motifs on the body panels, geometric frets, and auspicious elements distributed on a green background. The bases display characters and bat motifs associated with Chinese symbolism of longevity and good fortune. They stand on circular wooden pedestals. According to the information provided, they are accompanied by certificates of authenticity. Dimensions: 111 × 80 × 60 cm.
